Towards the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, GTRS took a brief step back from its tech-heavy guitars to focus on the launch of classic electrics, such as the MSC10+ and MMT series. This month, however, the company has announced that its GGW (GTRS Guitar Works) factory has been focusing on intelligent guitars once again, kicking things off with the GTRS SL810.
As with past intelligent guitars such as the M800, the SL810 integrates amp modeling and effects modules into the guitar itself, allowing guitarists to benefit from a comprehensive guitar rig, without the heavy equipment. Using the GTRS app, users can apply amp models, cabinet emulations, effects, and more to their guitar tone, allowing them to switch through their favorite presets with the GTRS Super Knob. Thanks to the guitar’s battery, these benefits can even be enjoyed on the go, without access to power.
The intelligent system behind the SL810 is new and improved compared to its relatives. Replacing the previous G100 and G150 systems, the SL810 uses the new G101 intelligent system, with the most notable upgrade being that the previously simulated stereo output has now been replaced with true stereo capabilities. Additionally, Bluetooth input has also been significantly improved. This GTRS system can be used in real-time with the GTRS app on both iOS and Android formats, helping guitarists curate the perfect presets for the SL810 guitar.
Moving on to the guitar's hardware, the SL810 boasts some truly impressive features. For example, the body is produced from mahogany, famously considered one of the best tonewoods for electric guitars thanks to its rich, full-bodied tonal quality and emphasis on midrange frequencies. Complementing the body is the flame maple top and a High Gloss finish, in addition to the 5-piece roasted maple and rosewood neck, finished with satin, a white shell dot inlay, and a gloss black finish on the guitar’s head. This tonewood combination is one of the most impressive GTRS creations to date, and when used with the guitar's pickup switch and tone knob, guitarists will find that the tonal capabilities are very versatile.
All of the guitar’s tonal resonances are captured by the guitar's custom HSH pickup setup, which includes two humbuckers and a single-coil pickup. To make things even more impressive, the guitar also features a tremolo-ready GTRS PW 2-point bridge, along with GTRS LT2 locking tuners, ensuring that tuning stability is always as reliable as possible.
Included with the SL810 are a convenient and protective GTRS gig bag, two guitar wrenches, a tremolo arm, a user manual, and a USB 3.0 cable. Not only can this USB cable be used for charging the guitar's battery, but it is also compatible with OTG recording, enabling users to record their creations directly into any OTG-compatible mobile device. The guitar is also compatible with the GTRS GWF4 wireless footswitch (sold separately), enabling users to extend the guitar’s capabilities and switch between presets, all without touching the GTRS Super Knob.
Overall, the SL810 marks an exciting new-and-improved return of GTRS’ intelligent guitars. When the carefully chosen tonewoods, GTRS construction, and intelligent features are all combined, it’s certainly one of the company’s best guitars to date–especially considering the upgrades to the Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility and stereo system.
